Bratislava Frauenlauf 2018

Bratislava women‘s run 2018

It is September 22nd, 4:00pm, and I am excitedly waiting with the another runners for the starting shot. I am in the last block, a few steps ahead of me there is a pacemaker who is holding the sign "5:45" in her hands. I intend to run in this pace, if my health allows me that.
The man who divided us into different blocks was cooperative and allowed me to start from the slower block. And now is the time to take a deep breath and to hang on. It is only 10km. In one hour I will be at the finish line - in the worst case.
The starting shot sounds and now I am running with the other runners. We run in the direction of the Danube promenade where I have warmed up a few minutes ago. Besides that I don‘t know the route. But I have the route in my head, including visual cues, because I have memorized the map in case there will be no signs. I am used to jogging 10 or more km, but because of the cold I have not been able to work out properly last week.
The reasons why I did not cancel this competition were the nice weather with temperatures over 25 degrees (currently we don‘t even have 17 degrees) on the one hand, and on the other hand the memory of the incredible vibes at the Austrian Women‘s Run.
Although Bratislava women‘s run does not have such a reputation like the Austrian‘s, the organizers did a great job: the route was marked after every second km, we got small bottles instead of cups so you won‘t have to stop needlessly - and the route itself was also great. I ran along the Danube, over the Novy Most (New Bridge") where the viewing restaurant UFO" is located and beneath a castle.
Furthermore, the event also payed off for the non-running crowd, because the start and the finish were at the shopping centre Eurovea.
I really enjoyed the competition, even though I had a coughing attack in the finish. The sprint at the end cost me more power than I thought. But somehow I cannot imagine a running competition without the quick run in front of the finish line.
My companion told me afterwards: "You can be glad, you made it under an hour with your cold. I would do the 4km competition if I were you - You are crazy."
Yes, that‘s what you can call me. I am a passionate jogger and I keep my chin up. I love the vibes at the competitions, the last steps up to the finish line, where I discover the hidden power to give it my all for the last few meters. The crossing of the finish line gives me new energy. I feel stronger and more balanced afterwards. It does not matter how many kilometers I am jogging, the passion always remains. There is a beautiful saying: Fight with passion, win with pride, lose with respect - but never give up!
